Meet Brian Younker

Brian Younker Illinois

Brian Younker, the Orland Township Highway Commissioner, is a 50-year resident of Tinley Park and has served our community in a multitude of capacities from public office to creating businesses that help local residents.

In addition to being our Highway Commissioner, Brian is the past president of Tinley Park’s Park District, a 19-year Firefighter/Engineer/EMT with the Country Club Hills Fire Department, and a small business owner.

Brian founded Y&D Maintenance, a landscape management company, in 1988 which serves residential, commercial, and industrial clients on maintenance needs such as season clean-ups, mulch, or snow removal. In 2001, he co-founded Younker Media with his late sister to handle advertising for clients throughout the Midwest.

As Orland Township Highway Commissioner, Brian started the Orland Township Electronic Recycling Program, a free electronic recycling program for residents, which since its inception, has recycled over 3 million pounds of electronics. He updated all the streets in unincorporated areas to energy-efficient LED lighting, helped prevent identity theft by providing free document shredding, and protected our environment by using safer de-icing solutions during winter storms.

Brian is heavily involved in the Orland Township community. In honor of his late sister, Brian founded and runs the Cynthia Marie Scholarship Program which grants a graduating female senior from Tinley Park High School funds so they can continue their education. Brian is also a past volunteer baseball coach for the Tinley Park Bobcats and a past volunteer football coach for the Tinley Park Bulldogs. He is the proud father of three children, Brian, Tommy, and Olivia.
